Saved from drowning in an arroyo as a young cowboy, Sheriff Hank Highwater walked the mighty western desert, then swam the Santa Cruz River before he wound up in Tucson, where he works tirelessly to keep the citizens of Pima County from harm during rainy times.
His mission is to educate kids and grownups about the importance of weather and water in our desert world. He teaches respect for native species and how to live in harmony with the desert.
The mountain peaks and mighty washes are Hank Highwater's world, and he wants to help us all learn to stay safe during rainy times and droughts.
